WHO WE ARE
Our Essence
At Shama Retreats, we deeply believe in the power of retreating.
In the power of stopping and connecting with oneself, with others, and with nature.
Our essence lies in creating spaces in natural environments where daily yoga and meditation practice, healthy new habits, and deep rest help us to regenerate completely.
A serene environment, where we can recharge to return to our daily life with more clarity and energy.
Our Journey
Paloma Dorado, a physical and yoga and meditation teacher, founded Shama Retreats in 2017.
“Shama Retreats was born from the benefits that moments of calm and connection have brought to my life, from my love for nature and my deep desire to share.
I started meditating at 21, while studying physics. I felt that the practice helped me focus, value moments of peace with myself, and manage life situations.
I soon began attending small retreats, where I would meditate in nature and give myself more space to stop.
I dedicated 15 years of my professional career to managing science at CERN and the European Commission. And alongside, I continued to deepen my practice and train in Hatha yoga and yin yoga, philosophy, and various energy techniques, and traveled to practice with international teachers.
The desire for what I loved to surround all aspects of my life led me to start in 2017 and create a project that has grown thanks to the love and trust of many people.
To date, we have shared more than 90 retreats.
We have crossed borders and organized retreats in Kenya, Bali, India, and Morocco. We have discovered wonderful places to retreat in Spain, Portugal, and Greece.
We have invited more than 20 teachers from various countries to teach at our retreats. We have held retreats in English, where students from different backgrounds can join and share their journey.
And we continue to trust in all the beautiful moments that will come and in the transformative effect that will continue to have on each of us and our surroundings
Our Community
Our community is a reflection of the diversity of the world.
More than 1200 people have participated in our retreats to date.
People from different nationalities but with similar interests, who come together for a few days with the goal of deepening their yoga and meditation practice or incorporating it into their daily routine, finding rest and renewal, connecting with others, or having more time for themselves.
In most of our retreats, we have a collaborating teacher, selected for their experience and the quality of their teaching. Each one brings their own uniqueness and style, allowing students to receive new knowledge and personalized and enriching attention.
